Welcome!

Since this is my first post I’d like to introduce my blog and myself.

As you can tell from the name of my blog, it has something to do with yoga. The reason I chose this name is because I credit yoga as the first stepping-stone to my passion for a healthier lifestyle.

The main theme of my blog will be on how to better our lives, realistically, both mentally and physically. Being happy and healthy is not an end achievement: it’s an ongoing process. Some days I am sad, some days I am sick, and most days I have aches and pains from my busy life, but if I work at it I’m more likely to have better days.

Happiness is a journey, not a destination; happiness is to be found along the way not at the end of the road, for then the journey is over and it’s too late. The time for happiness is today not tomorrow. – Paul H Dunn

I do not have all the answers, I will simply be sharing what works for me, and hopefully you will find something that is helpful along the way.

My name is Irena and my journey into wanting a healthier lifestyle I believe came at an early age, even though I did not act on it until I was a teenager and able to do things for myself.

No one in my family was particularly interested in healthy living while I was growing up. As a child I was often sick. My mum was constantly dragging me to the doctors and forcing medicine on me. Even as a child I wanted an alternative, but being a child I did not have a choice!

When I was sixteen I took a yoga class with a friend and I loved it so much that I continued it. I began reading into it and realizing that there is so much more to yoga than poses and stretches. And so, I began searching for alternative remedies to health problems. I loved how good it all made me feel. I eventually became a certified yoga instructor, and although I did not enjoy teaching yoga, I did get to learn even more. At this point I was all about healthy eating and exercising.

It wasn’t until a few years ago, when I let myself admit that I was extremely unhappy with my life, that I realized mental health is just as important as physical.

Join me on my continuous journey.
